Phoenix Back Piece Completion and Rework (3 sessions)
For this phoenix back piece, my job was completion of an incomplete tattoo. I would not be modifying the original outline significantly, but filling in the desired colour when the client was unable to return to the original artist.

Before: This is the preexisting back piece as it came to me. The client wanted the piece completed in full colour, and was unable to return to the old artist to do so. For the most part, I would be working with the old design and not making drastic changes to the outline.

This is the digital concept for the re-colouring plan. The client gave me reference photos, which I used to match her desired outcome as closely as possible. I recommended emboldening at least some of the thin original lines to make them stand out among the many bright colours.

Session 1 - I began by colouring the main body and wings.

Session 2 - I filled out the short tail feathers and started on the long tail feathers.

Session 3: I finished the long tail feathers, as well as the background. I added bold lines fo the most important parts of the bird to make them stand out. Emboldening the rest of the lines would have been a nice option as well, but as it would have added 4+ more hours of work, we held off on it for the time being.
